Being in a dry climate dries your mucous membranes, thereby resulting in nosebleeds. Hot temperatures, low humidity, and high altitudes are few causes of nose bleeding. There are few methods to prevent nosebleeds from recurring and they are as follows.
A homemade and tried treatment for nosebleeds that helps to stop the flow of blood quickly is the use of ice packs. Ice is very effective in stopping bleeding and reducing inflammation (if you have an injured nose).
Place crushed ice in a small towel and place the towel on the bridge of the nose. Hold it until the bleeding stops. The coldness of the ice pack helps to constrict the blood vessels thereby hindering further bleeding.
Having a glass of orange juice every day is effective to stop nosebleeds as oranges are rich sources of vitamin C. Vitamin C is very essential for collagen formation, which helps in creating a moist lining inside your nose.
You can also have citrus fruits as they have a high content of antioxidants and bioflavonoids, which help in strengthening the blood vessels thereby reducing the risk of the nosebleeds.
Take some cayenne pepper as soon as you get a nosebleed. Having a teaspoonful of cayenne powder or its extract stops the bleeding within only a few minutes.
Continue to have this every day, and try to eat foods, which are spiced with the pepper. Cayenne pepper stops all types of bleeding very quickly. You can also apply the powder directly onto the wound.
Inhaling the fumes from a sliced onion (fresh) is also used as a homemade remedy for nosebleeds. Place a thick onion slice directly under your nose.
The natural fumes will help to clot the blood, thereby stopping the nosebleed. You should also try to avoid blood-thinning foods such as vitamin E, aspirin, ginger, and garlic.
Deficiency of vitamin K in your body may also be a reason for nosebleeds. Eat plenty of vegetables, which have a high content of vitamin K such as dark-green leafy vegetables. You can also take vitamin K and vitamin C supplements as they help to prevent further nosebleeds.
Apply little petroleum jelly in both your nostrils so that the membrane remains moist. Other remedies that might help to stop nosebleeds are a few drops of zinc oxide, castor oil, or vitamin E inserted into both the nostrils on a daily basis.
Use a humidifier in your bedroom, which will help you to reduce your nosebleed in a great way. Proper care and regular cleaning of the humidifier are very important. Turn off the humidifier in the morning so that the room receives fresh air during the day.
