The skin gets oily due to the sebaceous (meaning oil producing) glands becoming over active. Pimples or blackheads (because the excessive oil creates blockage to the pores in the skin), shininess and blemishes are often symptomatic of oily skin.
Oily skin in general is neither harmful nor a bad health sign, but it undoubtedly is more prone to wrinkles. The oily skin wanting repair should be subjected to the following prevention techniques.
The oily face should be washed well with a face soap that is gentle (neither moisturising nor dry) at most (over washing is just as bad as not washing!) twice a day such that the extra formed oil and the dead skin cells gets removed and thepores open up. The face can also be washed using a mixture of warm water and honey (not hot water for that might irritate or damage).
The excessive oil production is a hormonal response caused by the eating style we adhere to. Change is diet is therefore another wise recommendation. Processed food should be struck off from the menu; green leafy vegetables and fresh fruits do wonder to the oily skin. Quitting dairy product is not advised, but suggested – it can be tried out for some time to see if positive results emerge; only then should it be continued.
Water should be consumed in good amounts (say two litres daily) to keep the skin from dehydrating. Exercising has no substitutes. Regular exercise will keep the skin fit and will reduce stress levels which agree or not manipulate hormonal secretions considerably.
This remedy is not age-old, it has recently emerged and is said to work like miracle. Application of milk of magnesium (bought from the pharmacy) to an oily skin (sprinkled with water) and keeping it at stand for ten minutes is the trick. It should, however, not be exercised more than twice a day.
Gentle face scrubs help to free the skin of dead cells and thus it promotes the new younger skin to take over. Choosing the right face scrub after going through their chemical compositions is a must; even a doctor can be consulted on this.
But once chosen, the face should be scrubbed at least twice a week. Similarly, face masks which contain clay should be chosen with care; it should be applied once a week so that the oil is cleaned and spots are prevented from occurrence.
This might take effort, nonetheless worth it: half cup each of mashed apple and cooked oat meal is mixed with beaten egg white.
To this is further added two tablespoons of lemon juice and a paste is made. This paste is applied to the face and is kept still for fifteen minutes after which it is washed away with plain water. Apple being rich in vitamin C and fibres does the miracle. So these are preventive remedies to oily skin. They have never had to face complaints of ill effects or ineffectiveness. Try them now.
