Asthma also known as reactive airway disease is a condition in which the airways become narrowed due to inflammation and swelling and produce extra mucus which further clogs the airways and disrupts the free flow of air. Allergic asthma is the most common type of asthma and is caused by inhaling certain allergens like dust, pollen, smoke, mites or molds. The immune system overreacts to these harmless substances and mounts a guard.
Defensive cells known as antibodies trigger the body’s allergic reaction and cause histamines to be released which lead to swelling and inflammation. The muscles around the airways tighten and the inside walls and the mucus membranes become irritated and inflamed and produce more than the required amount of mucus. This further constricts the airways and the lungs receive very little air. The main symptoms are coughing, shortness of breath, tight feeling in the chest, rapid breathing, wheezing and pain in the chest.
Easy Ways To Treat Asthma
Turmeric
When an asthma attack occurs, the tubes known as bronchi and which allow the oxygen into the lungs go into spasms which in turn trigger the release of histamines and other chemicals that cause inflammation and flooding of the airways with mucus.
Turmeric not only prevents inflammation but it also helps to clear the clogged airways by dissolving the mucus and thus making breathing easier. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder into a glass of hot milk and consume it twice daily.
Eucalyptus
Put to boil a glass of water and add three leaves of eucalyptus to it. Continue boiling on a low heat for two or three minutes then turn off the heat. Cover the pan and after ten minutes, strain the tea and drink it three times daily.
The powerful anti-inflammatory properties of eucalyptus will instantly reduce the inflammation and swelling and clear away the mucus thus allowing the air to flow in and out of the lungs without interruption.
Fenugreek
Fenugreek has powerful anti-inflammatory compounds which inhibit the release of cox-2 prostaglandins which are responsible for the inflammation. Fenugreek also scavenges all the harmful pathogens and expels them from the body.
Boil one glass of water and add one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds to it. Boil on a low heat for two to three minutes then turn off the gas and cover the pan. After ten minutes, strain the tea and drink three cups of it regularly.

Magnesium promptly relaxes the smooth muscles of the upper respiratory tract and prevents them from going into a spasm. The heat producing properties of mustard oil will also thin down the mucus and ease the breathing. Use this massage three times daily.
Fish Oil
The best way to treat asthma is to fight inflammation. Fish oil has huge reserves of omega 3 fatty acids which have powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Take one capsule of fish oil twice a day to prevent inflammation in the airways.
