How To Treat External Hemorrhoids

External HemorrhoidsHemorrhoids are caused by the inflammation of the blood vessels in the rectum or the anus. External hemorrhoids form underneath the skin that surrounds the anus. They are primarily caused by too much straining while passing stool. Hard and impacted stool does not move easily down the rectum and when one exerts a lot of pressure in the effort to evacuate it, the straining irritates the blood vessels and interferes with blood flow into and out of the area.

The blood vessels get inflamed and form into knots of tissues which are known as hemorrhoids. The symptoms depend upon of the severity of the condition. Hemorrhoids cause excruciating pain and bleed when passing stool. There is severe itching around the rectal and anal area and pain in the anus. The lumps of tissue feel swollen and tender and get bruised every time one visits the toilette. A severe case of constipation or diarrhea and pregnancy can be the leading cause of external hemorrhoids.
