How To Treat Gum Disease

Share

When the gums become red, swollen and begin bleeding while brushing the teeth then it can be assumed that the gums have become diseased. The initial stage of gum disease is gingivitis which is mostly caused by improper oral hygiene, inadequate nutrition, certain medicines and systemic diseases. Untreated gingivitis can progress to periodontitis which is a more severe form of gum disease.

The bacteria found in plaque get an upper hand and begin producing toxins which stimulate an inflammatory response. The gums become uncommonly irritated by the toxins and the tissues and the bone that support the teeth begin to erode. The gums separate from the teeth and form spaces between the gums and the teeth. These pockets become infected and as the disease advances, the pockets deepen and more gum tissue and bone are destroyed. This damage can be easily arrested and the gums healed nicely with certain home remedies and by practicing good oral hygiene.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon and mix it with some salt to form a paste. Rub your gums and your teeth with this paste for five minutes then rinse your mouth with water.

Massage the gums well for five minutes then rinse your mouth with water. Use this remedy three times a day. Honey will not only reduce the pain and swelling but it will also help to contain the infection.

Neem
