Hypothyroidism is a condition of low thyroid hormone production. Lack of thyroid hormone has an adverse affect on the functioning of the body as well as the growth and development of the body’s cells and tissues. Alternatively, you may also consume a teaspoon of flax seed oil everyday. Its nutty and buttery taste not only provides health benefits, but also tastes great and can be used in salad dressings, soups, breads and cereals.
Coconut oil helps in boosting the performance of the thyroid gland indirectly by stimulating metabolism. It also stimulates the production of thyroid hormones and kills the yeast called candida.
One teaspoon of coconut oil a day helps in warding off hypothyroidism. While using it for cooking, make sure that cooking is done in low flame.
Ginger is known not only as a culinary spice, but also as a medicinal herb. The components like potassium, magnesium and zinc present in it helps in enhancing the functioning of thyroid gland.
Ginger can be consumed in several ways by a person suffering from hypothyroidism. Chewing pieces of raw ginger, adding fresh ginger juice to juices and tea or eating dry ginger are easy ways to treat hypothyroidism at home, naturally.
More than half of the diseases and disorders in the world can be prevented with the aid of adequate exercise. This is because they help in keeping us physically fit and strong and stay away from medical conditions like hypothyroidism.
Exercise not only helps in supplying oxygen to the whole body but also helps in weight management which has a direct impact on hypothyroidism. Low impact exercises like brisk walk, jogging, yoga, aerobics, etc. are excellent ways to improve the functioning of the thyroid gland.
Soy consists of a number of health benefits. However, when it comes to hypothyroidism, soy can have an adverse affect on the thyroid gland. Soy are not only rich in proteins, but also contains isoflavones, which are plant based estrogens. Continuous intake of soy may result in the formation of goiter, which is a case of an enlarged thyroid gland. Soy chunks, soy milk, soy bean oil or soy in any other form should be avoided by a person suffering from hypothyroidism.
