Laryngitis is a condition wherein you experience hoarseness or loss of voice. The symptoms are characterized by swelling of the larynx or the voice box. The most common reason for laryngitis, which is temporary, is an infection in the upper region of the respiratory system like cold, caused by the virus.

Bacterial infections need immediate medical attention. The other type of laryngitis occurs due to voice abuse, which is caused by yelling and screaming. This tends to make your voice coarse. The symptoms include throat pain, loss of range in singers, fatigue and itchy sensation in the throat and constant throat clearing. A few treatments to deal with laryngitis are discussed below.

How to Treat Laryngitis

Vinegar

An acidic environment is dreaded by bacteria and virus. Therefore, the best remedy for laryngitis is to make the mouth acidic. In order to achieve this, you can use vinegar to gargle. This helps in getting rid of the infectious micro organisms.

To prepare vinegar swish, just take equal amounts of water and vinegar and stir it well and gargle about 2-4 times per day. You can also use vinegar directly for gargling, but vinegar is normally very strong.

Lemon

Curing sore throat by sucking on lemon is an ancient folk remedy. It might be difficult for few people to directly suck on a lemon. You can have a glass of lemon juice instead with some salt. The acidic nature of lemon improves the flow of saliva. The salt in the juice elevates the acidity level in the lemon and helps in destroying the microorganisms.

To prepare this blend just squeeze a full lemon into a small vessel and add a pinch of salt, preferably sea salt and blend it well. Now, add this concentration to some water, which is warm. Gargle using this mixture for about 3-4 times per day. You can also make some lemon tea to moisten the throat.
