People who have diabetes or have weak immune systems are more liable to contract nail fungus. The infected nails become discolored and thick. As the infection advances, the nails become distorted, crumbly and brittle. There can also be pain and a foul odor.
Apple cider vinegar is a traditional medicine and is widely used for curing a great number of diseases and ailments. It is especially very good for all kinds of skin disorders and infections because of its powerful antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Mix half a cup of apple cider vinegar into half a bucket of water and soak your affected hands or feet into it for twenty minutes. After the soak wipe them dry thoroughly. Use the soak two or three times daily.
Take two teaspoons of baking soda and add enough apple cider vinegar to form a thick paste. Rub the paste on the infected nails and leave it there to dry. After half an hour you can rinse your hands if you have work to do.
Apply the paste every few hours, everyday till the infection has cleared off completely. Baking soda will heal the infection and restore the normal look of the affected nail.
It is important to wear cotton socks which will absorb the perspiration and keep the toes dry. Change your socks daily and take off your shoes after you get home. In summer wear open toed sandals.
