How To Treat Psoriasis

Share

Psoriasis is pretty common skin disease which is caused by an improper functioning immune system. The immune system begins to attack the healthy body tissues and to destroy them unnecessarily. Psoriasis runs in families and is passed on from one generation to another. The skin cells that grow deep within the skin rise to skin’s surface once a month but when you are suffering form psoriasis, the skin cells rise too fast to the skin’s surface and a buildup of dead skin cells takes place.

Consequently the skin becomes irritated and red. It takes on a thick and coarse appearance and keeps shedding silvery flakes all the while. The patches of dry skin trigger intense itching and the more one scratches the more the skin becomes thick and raised. Though these patches can occur anywhere on the body, they are commonly seen on the elbows, knees and the middle of the body.

Bacterial or fungal infections can trigger an attack of psoriasis and make the condition worse. It is important to keep the skin free from infections so that nothing hinders the healing process.

Coconut oil not only eradicates all types of infections but it also helps to heal the damaged tissues. It nourishes the skin and keeps it well moisturized thus taking care of the flaking. Rub coconut oil all over the patches as frequently as possible.

Besan And Curd

It is important to keep the skin clean, well hydrated and in a soft and moist condition and to exfoliate the scales. Mix some besan and curd to form a thick paste.

Lather the paste on the patches and leave it to dry. Rub off the paste with a gentle pressure so that all the scales and dead skin cells will come away with it. Rinse with warm water. Curd will take care of any bacteria or fungus and will keep the skin well moisturized all the time.
