5 Ways To Treat Scalp Psoriasis

Share

Scalp psoriasis is an inflammatory skin disease which appears in the form of scaly bumps or papules on the scalp. These papules combine together to form plaques which turn into layers of dry and flaky skin with slivery scales. Scalp psoriasis can affect small areas of the scalp or can cover the entire scalp. It can even go beyond the scalp to reach the neck, forehead and the behind of the ears.

The lesions can become bigger, thicker and more crusted and the shedding of the scales is profuse and is very unsightly. There is intense itching and a constant impulse to remove the plaques by scratching them off which can damage the skin and further aggravate the condition. The constant scratching makes the scalp sore and there is a hot burning sensation all the time. Genetic factors, emotional stress and immunity problems are attributed to be the cause of this condition.

It can heal the lesions quickly and remove the chances of an infection. It also provides instant relief in the itching and softens the scales so that they come away easily when you comb your hair. Massage your scalp with warm coconut oil twice daily.

Olive Oil

Olive oil too contains powerful healing properties. Warm some olive oil and massage your scalp with it for fifteen to twenty minutes so that the oil penetrates well into the skin.
