White Willow Bark, also known as nature’s aspirin could be beneficial in banishing headache pains and migraines as well. This incredible herb is being used as a drug for dealing with bursitis pain, arthritis, back pain etc. as well. White willow bark has anti-inflammatory as well as pain relieving properties and hence, it is referred as nature’s aspirin. The main ingredient in the white willow bark is the Salacin, which is the major chemical compound from which the aspirin (salicylic acid) is derived. White willow bark not only helps reduce a headache but even helps reduce the excruciating pain caused due to migraine headaches.
People who prefer herbal solution would mostly prefer white willow bark as a substitute for aspirin. Certain evidence has mentioned that white willow bark has gentler effects on the stomach unlike those pain relievers such as aspirin. So, using this herb for getting relieved from the debilitating pain caused due to a migraine headache is a great remedy.
White willow bark is available in the form of capsules, as a whole, an extract, and in the powdered form as well. However, using this herb to prepare a warm decoction or tea is an amazing idea.
1-2 tablespoons of dried bark
8-ounce of water
Add 1-2tbsp of dried white willow bark in a pan containing 8-ounce of water. Allow it to boil for a few minutes. Simmer for 10-15 minutes on a low flame. Put off the flame. Cover and steep for a few more minutes. Strain and consume this warm decoction three or four times every day to get rid of the pain associated with a migraine headache.
Feverfew is an amazing herb belonging to the sunflower family. It can be used for getting relieved from migraine headaches. Also, catnip herb and valerian root used in this herbal tea are equally effective in easing the symptoms associated with a migraine headache.
One-fourth cup of dried valerian root
1/4th cup of dried catnip herb
1/4th cup of chopped feverfew and
1/4th cup of white willow bark
Mix all the ingredients together. Now, add one tbsp. of this mixture to a medium-sized pan containing one-liter water. Bring it to boil. Later, switch the flame to medium. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 10 minutes. Strain the decoction. Add a few drops of honey and consume it warm.
