5 Natural Cure For Carpal Tunnel

Pressure on the median nerve and several tendons that causes a lot of pain, tingling in the fingers, and numbness in the hands is known as carpal tunnel syndrome.The median nerve which controls the movement and sensation in the thumb, index finger, the middle finger and the ring finger, passes from the forearm into the hand through a narrow and small space in the wrist known as the carpal tunnel.

This narrow passageway is made up of bones and ligaments and is situated on the underside of the wrist. When this nerve gets pinched or compressed due to excessive and forceful use and improper positioning of the hand when performing tasks such as clicking a mouse, typing, strumming and gripping musical instrument strings, and using hand tools, the nerve gets inflamed and the flexibility in the wrist decreases causing stiffness and pain This condition can be also caused by arthritis, rheumatism and hyperthyroidism.

Rotate Your Wrists

Stretch your hands straight in front of you. Turn your palms into fists and start rotating them from the wrists. Rotate till the count of thirty in clockwise direction then start rotating in anti-clockwise direction for the same amount of time. Do this several times a day. The stress on the nerve will release, the wrists will regain their flexibility and the pain will reduce.

Ice Pack

Fill an ice bag with ice cubes and place it on the wrists, and fingers and wherever the pain is severe. Keep for twenty minutes. The swelling will subside and the pain will abate. The tingling sensation also will be considerably reduced. Do this several times a day for optimum relief.

Mustard Oil

Mustard oil has anti-inflammatory properties and has been used since centuries in treating all kinds of joint pains. Warm some mustard oil and massage your wrists, palms and fingers and the back of your hand.

Massage with a pressure for fifteen minutes. The rubefacient quality of mustard oil produces heat which stimulates the blood flow to the median nerve and decreases numbness. It helps alleviate the pain, strengthens the muscles  and infuses fresh energy into them.

Mustard Soak

This is the best and most effective remedy for the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. It relieves the pressure on the nerve, stimulates blood circulation, soothes the tensed muscles and alleviates the pain. Heat a bowl of water and add two teaspoons of mustard powder to it. Soak both your hand and wrists into it for twenty minutes.

You will experience tremendous relief in the pain and will be to flex your wrists without feeling any stiffness in them. Whenever you take a break from your work use this soak to keep the pain away.

Castor Oil

Castor oil has been found to bring long lasting relief in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. This oil has overpowering healing qualities. Warm some castor oil. Massage thoroughly the wrists, thumbs, fingers and the back of the hand for quite some time. Wrap your hands in flannel and keep for an hour. The swelling will reduce and the pain will decrease. Do this on a regular basis.
