Diarrhea is also called stomach flu. When the bowel movement becomes overactive due to infection, loose and watery stools are passed frequently. The water is drawn from the body into the bowel and passed off in stool form. This condition generally lasts for two or three days. Diarrhea is an infection of the gut and can be caused by viral and bacterial infections.
It is also caused by food poisoning, indigestion, an irritable or inflamed bowel, certain medicines and allergies to certain foods. The symptoms of diarrhea are cramps in the stomach, thin and watery stools, frequent passing of stools and griping pain. If there is pus or blood in the stool followed by fever then diarrhea can be said to have taken a complicated turn. Easy and gentle home cures are more effective in taking care of this problem than over the counter medicines.
