Brush Your Teeth

Brush your teeth twice a day. This helps in removing the unwanted food particles between the teeth and thereby avoids decay. It also removes the plaque on the teeth. Flossing along with brushing helps in removing the bacteria and unwanted food particles. Typically, brushing properly solves most of the problems arising from gums.

Chewing

Chewing the food properly helps in stimulating the gums and helps in gums being active. It is very much advisable to chew the food in every bite. 4-5 chews for every bite are recommended.

Honey

Using honey after brushing teeth can give some amount of relief. Rubbing honey on to the gums can provide a soothing effect for gum disease.

Tea Tree Oil

Applying one to two drops of tea tree oil on the toothbrush and brushing the teeth helps in killing the bacteria. It also protects the gums from infection.

Vitamin C

Intake of Vitamin C reduces the risk of getting gum diseases. Bleeding in the gums might come down to a large extent with the regular intake of Vitamin C. Eating grapes, oranges, papaya, strawberry, cantaloupe and broccoli can help in increasing the Vitamin C in the body.

Clove Oil

Applying two to three drops of clove oil can give relief for toothache. It is a temporary relief for the aching tooth. It helps in postponing the visit to the dentist.

Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant produced naturally in the body. There is a link between this antioxidant and gums. If the production of Coenzyme Q10 is low, the gums might get infected easily. This can be taken as a supplement available at drug stores.

Meat (Pork heart, beef heart, reindeer), corn oil, cottonseed oil, sesame oil, soybean oil, fish have rich content of Coenzyme Q10. So, people can consume these foods on a regular basis instead of taking supplements.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D intake can reduce the susceptibility to gum diseases. It is proven to have anti-inflammatory effects. Sun is an important and key factor for Vitamin D. Exposure to sun is essential for good Vitamin D. Synthesis of Vitamin D in the skin, happens through the trigger of ultra-violet rays from the sun.

Smoking

Smoking causes the gums to be infected very easily. It might even lead to chronic diseases such as cancer. So, it is advisable to quit smoking or reduce the frequency of smoking. Smoking might cause mouth cancer or lung cancer.

Guava

Guava contains a natural antibacterial element which cures the gum disease. It helps in preventing the gums being affected quickly.
