Make a small roti out of wheat dough and roast it only on one side. Smear the hot turmeric paste on the unroasted side of the roti and place it over the knee. Tie with a thin cotton cloth to keep it in place. Apply this compress every day till the pain disappears completely.
Castor oil has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties which reduce swelling and mitigate pain. Warm some castor oil and gently massage the knee with it for fifteen minutes. Cover and wrap the knee with a soft flannel cloth. The massage will increase the blood circulation and the oil will lubricate the joint and ease the stiffness and pain.
Dried ginger powder has been used since centuries to reduce and heal pain and swelling. Its potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties are very beneficial in the treatment of a wide number of ailments and disorders. Swallow one teaspoon of dried ginger powder with a glass of hot milk every morning and every night before going to bed. The swelling and pain will disappear after a few days.
