Natural Cure For Night Sweats

Night sweat and hot flashes are common occurrences for menopausal women where they suddenly feel sweaty during their sleep and there is excessive sweat flow from the body. This is highly uncomfortable and irritating for these women, but luckily there are natural remedies that can easily cure these problems.

Tips To Cure Night Sweat Naturally

Avoid Stress

Stress is a great contributing factor in night sweats for menopausal women and so they should try to avoid strenuous activities as much as possible. However, doing some light exercises before going to sleep may be beneficial and may reduce night sweat.

Food

Great care of food should be taken by women suffering from night sweats. Food items like caffeine, spicy foods, hot drinks, acidic foods, alcoholic beverages and white sugar should be completely avoided if possible or else regulated as these affect the metabolism and internal temperature of the body and cause excessive sweating.

Night sweats also deplete the Vitamin B, Vitamin C, potassium and magnesium content of the body so care should be taken to consume these.

Herbs

Various herbs are also helpful in reducing night sweats and these are given below.

Dong quai is known to reduce mental and emotional stress which in turn reduces night sweats indirectly. Licorice root is known to help with many hormonal problems related to women including night sweats as it reduces estrogen and increases progesterone.

Pycnogenol

This is a natural extract obtained from the bark of the maritine pine tree and is known to reduce all problems related to menopause including night sweats. A study conducted in Taiwan proved that when menopausal women were given 100mg of this extract every day, there was a significant reduction in all of their menopause related problems.

Clothing

Women should not wear tight or uncomfortable clothing while going to sleep as this stimulates excessive sweat and they should wear lose and comfortable clothes.

Black Cohosh And Flaxseed

Both of these are known to reduce or completely remove problems related to menopausal women and so they are also helpful in reducing night sweats.

Bamboo Sheets

Using bamboo sheets is of great help if you are suffering from night sweats. Even though it does not cure you of night sweats, it can relieve you of the various discomforts.

Firstly, bamboo sheets soak sweat much faster and so you won’t feel the wet bed sheets and will feel comfortable on the bamboo sheets even while you sweat. Secondly, bamboo sheets are odour resistant and even if you sweat, you won’t feel the odour and will feel much better. Lastly, the temperature of bamboo sheets remains 2-3 degrees cooler in hot temperatures which will give you easier sleep and lesser sweat.

Avoid Caffeine

It is known to cause an increase in blood pressure by stimulating the nervous system thereby increasing the sweating from the body. Therefore, all drinks which are rich in caffeine like coffee should be avoided and overall consumption of caffeine should be either completely stopped or reduced.

Sleep In Cool Room

Sleeping in a cool room can considerably reduce the night sweat. You may employ various methods to keep your room cool like lowering the temperature of the air conditioner, pointing a fan towards yourself, opening the windows to allow air circulation and putting something cool under your head while sleeping. All these keep the body cool and reduce night sweat.

OSHA is a herb found in the United States of America, which is known to help with night sweats. It controls the virus and bacterial attacks and therefore controls night sweat and it also helps in eliminating toxins from the body and so it should be taken at night before sleeping so that it can eliminate toxins throughout the night.
