Staph infection is caused by the staphylococcus bacteria. These bacteria live harmlessly on the skin surface surrounding the genitals, anus, mouth and nose but when the skin surface gets ruptured through injury the bacteria enter the wound and cause infection. A pocket of pus develops in a hair follicle or oil gland and emerges as a boil on the skin surface.
The surrounding skin becomes red and swollen and if the boil breaks open it oozes pus and blood. This infection is highly contagious and can be spread by mere contact or by using the infected person’s personal articles such as towels, clothes, combs and brushes. Though most staph infections are minor skin infections, in some cases they can become serious if the infection penetrates the blood stream.
Hot compresses relieve the discomfort and pain and encourage quick healing. Take some hot water into a bowl and dip a clean, thin cotton towel into it. Squeeze out the excess water and fold the towel several times to form a compress. Apply the compress directly on the affected area and keep it for several minutes.
When the compress loses heat, dip again and repeat the process. Do this, three times a day. The moist heat will enhance the flow of white blood cells and antibodies to the infected area and help the body to fight off the infection on its own.
Coconut oil has exceptional antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties which deal with the infection quickly and effectively.
Its soothing and restorative properties eliminate the itching and burning and help the boils to subside quickly. Apply pure coconut oil on all the infected areas three times daily. Regular application will destroy the bacteria and your skin will stay smooth and moisturized.
Catechu most commonly used in paan preparation has many healing and medicinal values and has been used since times unknown in the treatment of various diseases. The bark of this plant is remarkable for its antioxidant, antibacterial, astringent, anti-inflammatory and antifungal properties.
Buy some katha paste from any paan shop and apply it directly on the affected areas. Leave the paste to dry on the skin. The paste will flake off on its own. The pustules will dry up within no time and the inflamed skin will be rid of the itching and burning. Apply this paste two or three times daily.
Onion is a natural healer and cleanser. Grate one big onion and squeeze out its juice. Apply the juice on the blisters and let it dry. Apply another coating of the juice.
The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of onion destroy the bacteria and relieve the pain and itching. In addition to applying the juice you should also eat raw onions in salads everyday for faster results.
Turmeric has great healing powers and deals most effectively with all kinds of skin infections and disorders. Take three teaspoons of turmeric powder and mix it with some water to form a thick paste. Smear the paste over the infection and leave it to dry. The swelling will subside and the pus will dry up quickly. Regular use, three times a day will soon clear off the infection.
