Gargle several times in the day and before going to bed with this water. The soreness will diminish as the germs get killed.
Banafsha Flowers
Banafsha flowers have antibacterial and antifungal properties. They are rich in essential oils which soothe the inflamed tonsils by reducing the swelling and soreness. Boil six to seven banafsha flowers in one glass of milk for five minutes. Strain the milk and add some sugar to sweeten it. Drink this hot milk before going to bed.
Cinnamon And Honey
Cinnamon and honey is the best cure for tonsillitis. It gives quick and very effective results. Cinnamon is rich in essential oils which are antimicrobial in nature. They inhibit the growth of bacteria and microorganisms, reduce swelling and have a sedative effect.
Add one teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a glass of hot water. Mix in two teaspoons of honey and drink. Drink two or three times a day for optimum results.
Tulsi Or Basil

Boil ten leaves of tulsi in one glass of water. Add four crushed peppercorns to it. Boil till half a glass of water is left in the pan. Strain and add some sugar. Drink it hot three times a day. Acacia Nilotica
Acacia nilotica or Babul is rich in tannin acid and gallic acid which help relieve pain and swelling. Boil three teaspoons of acacia bark in two glasses of water. Boil for fifteen minutes or until you feel the decoction is strong enough. Strain and drink while it is hot. There will be immense relief from the swelling and pain.
Tea leaves
Boil one teaspoon of tea leaves in a glass of water. Strain and gargle with the tea when it is cool enough. Gargle three times a day and once before going to bed. This gargle will relieve the soreness and swelling and heal the tonsils.
