Arthritis is a common disease condition that affects millions of people around the world. There are three types of Arthritis and they are rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis and gout. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease, during which the healthy tissues in the body get attacked by its own immune system.
The synovium, that lines the joints of the body are primarily affected and in turn multiple joints may also get affected. Rheumatoid arthritis may also affect many other organs as well. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative arthritis caused by the wear and tear and loss of cartilage in joints.
Loss of cartilage further leads to the rubbing of bones over each other and cause pain, immobility and stiffness of the joints. Osteoarthritis usually affects a single joint but may cause functional and structural failure of one or more joints as the disease progress.
Hence, osteoarthritis should be addressed as early as possible to prevent the long term damage of the bones and joints. It also helps to reduce the swelling, pain and improve the mobility. There are many medications to reduce the pain, but most of which cause adverse side effects. Hence, most of the patients like to follow the alternative treatments such as exercises, self-care measures, yoga, acupuncture, home remedies, herbal remedies, massage therapy etc.

Balanced Diet
Include more foods that reduce the inflammation in your diet such as onion, garlic, watercress, celery, lemon, parsley, mustard etc. Also include more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, cold water fish, lean meat, tofu, beans etc. along with at least eight glasses of water.
Similarly avoid refined foods like sugar, pasta, white breads, red meat, caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, trans-fatty acids etc. and use healthy oils such as olive oil or flax seed oil for cooking. This helps to boost the immune system, reduce inflammation and even helps to manage the weight. Obesity or over weight adds more stress on the affected joint and cause unbearable pain.
Ginger
Ginger is widely accepted for its anti-arthritic effect. The dry rhizome of ginger contains 1 to 4% volatile oil, which are responsible for the medicinal properties of the ginger.
The active ingredients in ginger have analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce the joint pain associated with osteoarthritis. Ginger may be consumed in any form and similarly, garlic is also beneficial for osteoarthritis.
