You can massage using mustard oil, which is found to be an effective cure for edema. The massaging should be done in an upward circular motion for at least 10 to 20 minutes in a day.

This will help in reducing the levels of fluid retention, thus reducing the swellings too. You can continue this treatment daily, all through your pregnancy period. This massage will also be a very good relaxation for you.

Raw Garlic

The uses of raw garlic are multiple, and it finds its usage even in treating edema. You can take up to 2 or 3 raw garlic cloves everyday in the morning.

This will help in reducing the swelling to a great extent. It is found to help in removing the excess fluid from the body and help in reducing the swells.

Cucumber To Eliminate Excess Fluid

Cucumber is one the vegetables with high water content. This will help in increasing the amount of urination. And, obviously there will be an excess of fluid elimination from the body.

Exercise For Fluid Movement

If you remain ideal, then the accumulation of fluid will keep on increasing. So, to avoid this and enhance the fluid movement, you can do some simple exercises.

Even, walking for sometime everyday will help. Other simple exercises as recommended for pregnant women can also be done. This will increase the fluid movement, ultimately leading to its elimination.

Compression With Warm Water

You can also give a warm water compression on the swelled part of the leg. You can do this, by dipping a cotton cloth in warm water. The compression can be given for some 15 to 20 minutes daily. This will help in the reduction of swelling and it will also help in reducing the pain greatly.

It will be a very refreshing massage too. Instead of compression, you can also dip the leg in warm water for some time. But, this may sometimes lead to cold, which may make the pregnancy period difficult.

These treatments are found to be effective with no side effects. But, you can still refer your doctor regarding exercise and other stuff, before you personally try it out.
