Share

We are usually headed for improving ourselves in terms of our health and our appearance. This usually leads to a lot of effort since health, hair and skin require a lot of care. But what if we have something which benefits all of them? Try using coconut and you will know how easy it was.

Most of the people have used coconut in one form or the other. Some might drink coconut water in summers to keep their bodies hydrated, others might have used it as cooking oil in their kitchen. Coconut has a wide range of benefits which are not restricted to your heath. Ofcourse it is good for your health, but it has beauty benefits as well.

1. Keeps You Hydrated:

Well this is the most common benefit of coconut water. Since most of our body is made of water, we need to keep it hydrated to stay healthy and charming. Coconut water is 95% water and 4% carbohydrated. So, along with keeping the hydration level up, it provides instant energy. Also, coconut water contains a lot of important minerals and thus helps in maintaining electrolyte balance in our body.[1]

2. Healthy Stomach:

Coconut water is easy to digest and gets absorbed by the body effortlessly. This would help to keep your stomach healthy. Specially in cases when the stomach denies to accept food, coconut water not only gets digested easily but also provides energy.
Also, it is rich in fibre which makes it an appropriate choice in case of acidity, heat burn, ulcer and other stomach discomforts.[2]

3. Clearer Skin:

No doubt drinking adequate amount of water keeps your skin clean and clear. This is because water helps in flushing out of toxins and so they do not affect our body. Same is with coconut water. Apart from sipping it, you can also apply coconut water on your face. The water contains lauric acid which kills harmful bacteria. Take a cotton ball, dab it in coconut water and apply it on clean face. Let the water work for 3-4 minutes. You can then rinse it off.[3]

4. Healthy Scalp:

Anti bacterial property of coconut helps in maintaining a healthy scalp as well. Massaging scalp with coconut oil has multiple benefits. First, it leads to increased blood circulation which energizes hair roots. Second, the coconut oil kills all the harmful bacteria in ourĀ scalp. Third, it protects against dry and flaky scalp by hydrating it properly.
All you have to do is massage your scalp with coconut oil and keep it over night.[4]

5. Younger Skin:

Coconut oil can work wonders on your skin. The anti oxidants present in the oil protects your skin against damage and ageing. The lauric acid in the oil helps in repairing the damage and keeps your skin clearer. Also, coconut oil would keep your skin moisturised and soft.

You can apply 2-3 drops of coconut oil 30-40 minutes before going to bed. Keep it overnight and wash it the next morning.[5]

6. Oral Health:

Just like skin and scalp, cococut can be used for oral hygiene as well. Rinsing mouth with coconut water would help in cleaning inaccessible areas of mouth. Also, this would kill all the harmful bacteria and would give you healthier teeth, tongue and gums. But in an era where we have mouthwashes, using coconut water to wash your mouth sounds like an injustice to it.[6]
