Over the counter drugs and prescription medications are available but they come with annoying side effects which may debilitate the condition even more. Natural home remedies are safe and they offer more promising results. A key part of food allergy treatment is identifying allergy causing food items in your diet and then eliminating them from your meals.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

With a number of beneficial compounds like Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Acetic acid, Ascorbic acid and Malic acid, Apple Cider Vinegar is No. 1 choice for combating food allergies. These compounds function to bring body’s PH to normal levels thereby boosting immune function and providing allergy relief.

Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of organic apple cider vinegar in a day. If you cannot handle its taste, mix 1 teaspoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey and then dilute it in half glass of warm water. Consume this tonic at least twice a day.

Raw Honey:

Raw honey has a number of intriguing properties. Honey bees secrete a special protein called ‘bee defensin-1’ that intermingles with flower nectars that these bees use to prepare honey. This specific protein is known for its anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral effects. Honey also contains phyto-chemicals such as flavonoids and anti-oxidants. Raw honey therefore works like a vaccine against local allergens, effectively casting off food allergies and boosting immunity. You can take 1 to 2 teaspoons of raw organic honey and mix it with one to two drops of onion juice for best results.

Lemons:

Lemon juice increases alkaline level in your blood. It is also a great source of ascorbic acid that boosts immunity and provides allergy relief. However, if you have ever suffered with an allergy to citrus fruits, you should not use lime juice for treatment.

Mix juice of one lemon and a teaspoon of honey in lukewarm water and consume it. Repeat this for a couple of months.

Oatmeal:

Oatmeal can be quite helpful if you are suffering from hives that is often an allergy symptom. You can prepare a soothing ointment using a tablespoon of oatmeal that has been soaked in a cup of boiled water for a minimum of 30 minutes. Strain any excess water and make a paste. This paste can be carefully applied over hives with help of a cotton ball. This paste can also be refrigerated for future use.

Bananas:

If you are suffering from stomach disorder or skin rashes due to some allergy, try treating it with banana. Banana is an excellent option for reducing symptoms due to allergic reactions. Some people may be sensitive to bananas also. In that case eating of bananas should be avoided.

Natural Antihistamines:

Histamine is a compound that causes allergic reactions in the body. Antihistamines obstruct histamine production in the body causing allergies to cease. Some of the best natural antihistamines include ginger, peppermint, chamomile tea etc.

Intake of ginger juice in lukewarm water is an excellent remedy for congestion and allergies that trigger due to cold. Similarly peppermint tea, thyme tea and chamomile tea are exceptional antihistamines. Quercetin found in onions, okra, grapefruit and apples is a natural antihistamine and is used in several ayurvedic preparations. Pineapples that contain Bromelain can also help in combating allergies.
