Air And Sunlight

This is a simple yet powerful home remedy for smelly feet. Keep your feet exposed to  air and sunlight several times in a day, whenever you can. UV rays of the sun kill bacteria on your feet, reducing foot odor. Exposure to air keeps your feet dry. Do this daily and you will notice a remarkable difference soon enough.

Powder Your Feet

Before your slip on your socks and shoes, dab your feet with deodorizing, antiperspirant foot powder containing aluminum chloride hexahydrate.

Make sure your feet are totally dry before applying foot powder. This will keep your feet drier and odor free for a long period of time.

Sugar Scrub

Foot odor can also occur on account of  calluses on your feet. Prepare a sugar scrub by mixing 2 teaspoons of sugar granules in 1 teaspoon of isopropyl alcohol (91% and more). and clean water, to obtain a thick mixture. Use this homemade scrub to scrub your feet. Doing this daily for 15 minutes will remove dead skin cells and calluses from your feet, eliminating bacteria.

Baking Soda For Socks And Shoes

Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of baking soda inside your shoes and socks evenly, after your remove them at the end of the day. This will absorb moisture and the accompanying odor present in your foot wear ensuring, odor free feet the next day.

Alternatively, you can also use borax to dust the insides of your shoes and socks. Borax is a disinfectant that kills odor causing bacteria instantly.

Foot Bath With Black Tea

Boil 3 tea bags in 2 cups of water for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags. Dilute this tea with 3 cups of warm water. Ensure that the water has cooled down sufficiently for a warm foot bath. Keep your feet immersed in this for 30 minutes. The tannic acid in black tea closes your skin pores to prevent excessive sweating. It also kills odor causing bacteria. Black tea foot bath is a very valuable home remedy for foot odor.

Take A Foot Soak

Add 2 tablespoons of common salt to a tub of warm water. Soak your feet in this salt water solution for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, do not rinse your feet.

Dry them with a towel instead. Salt has a drying effect on the skin. It prevents feet from sweating excessively. Do this twice daily after bath. You can also use Epsom salt or Kosher salt for the purpose.
