Postnasal drip occurs, when the production of mucus goes awry. On any given day, 1-2 quarts of mucus runs down the throat. Salt Water

However, you can reduce some of the symptoms by using salt water to gargle your mouth. Add salt (1/2 tsp) to water (1 cup) and use the liquid to gargle. This will soothe your throat.
Baking Soda
This home remedy is quite effective in clearing up the mucus problem. Mix warm water (1 cup), salt (1 tsp) and baking soda (a small pinch). Squirt this mix into the nostril using a nasal syringe. Tilt your head forward, backward and to either side for about 8 – 10 seconds in every position, so that the solution gets into all the 4 sinus cavities.
Blow your nose, after you swish around. Try squirting in 3-4 bulbs full of this liquid on both sides of the nostrils. In case, the bulb syringe is not available, you could snort the solution from your cupped hand. This process must be done for about 6 times a day and to avoid the problem of postnasal drip in the future, you can repeat this process two times a day.
Water
It is essential to stay hydrated, if you are experiencing postnasal drip. Drinking plenty of water will act as a defense against this condition. It keeps the mucus thin and the nasal passages and body well hydrated.
Drink a minimum of 8 ounces of water in a day. Besides water, you can also take other liquids like lime water or tea. This will help in moistening the nasal passages and will make the dry mucus thinner and less noticeable.
Intake Vitamin C
Increase the intake of vitamin C, as it will help in curing the problem quickly. Fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C such as oranges, strawberries, lime, cabbage etc. must be included in your daily intake.
