Top 8 Home Remedies To Cure Ring Worm

Share

Ring worm is an infection caused by a fungus. It is highly infectious and can easily spread from person to person. It commonly occurs on the scalp and on the surface of the skin. Anti-fungal treatments are required to get rid of very severe infections.

At the same time there are some simple home remedies which can help to get rid of the infection. People with compromised immunities such as AIDS patients and organ transplant recipients are more susceptible to these infections. It is not deadly but very annoying. The remedies listed below can go a long way in giving symptomatic relief.

Effective Home Remedies To Cure Ring Worm

Apple Cider Vinegar

If you are suffering from scalp or skin ring worm, apple cider vinegar can come to your rescue. Dab some on a piece of cotton ball and directly apply it on the affected areas of the skin and scalp. This will reduce the infection in 1-3 days.

Tea Tree Oil

This oil originally used by the aboriginals of Australia is known for its healing properties while treating cuts, wounds and skin infections. Use a solution that has about 50% of tea tree oil and apply it on the patchy, red areas. Do this once daily. In about 4 week’s time, your infection should have cleared.

Aloe Vera

While it does little to heal the infection, it can still be used to reduce the itching or give a cooling sensation to the skin and scalp.

Turmeric

Turmeric has potent anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Extract the juice from fresh turmeric and apply this juice directly on the ring worm affected areas. You will find the symptoms of itching and redness disappear in 1-2 days.

Salt And Vinegar

For those who do not have access to apple cider vinegar, plain vinegar can help to ease the infection. Just add a pinch of salt to plain vinegar and dab this solution on the patches. Most people, who have used this remedy, say that the infections subside or clear up after a week or so.

Lacto Calamine

Very severe infections could lead to the possibility of scars. To prevent this, apply liberal amounts of calamine lotion to your skin. Apply a thick, creamy layer for soft and clear skin. The lotion prevents redness and scarring of the skin tissue.

Drink Vegetable Juice

Enhance your immunity from within and drink clear, vegetable juice. This clears the toxins from the body and speeds up healing.

Keep The Area Clean And Dry

Since it is a fungal infection, it is important to keep the area clean and dry. Make sure you shower twice a day. Use a good anti-fungal powder especially if the infection is occurring in your crotch area. Excessive wetness can exacerbate the infection and compound your discomfort.

Apart from these home remedies, it is important to stay away from people and minimize contact as it is very contagious and can easily spread from one person to another. It also makes sense to use a good anti-fungal cream in conjunction with the above home remedies.
