Vegan Diet To Lose Weight

Share

Many people these days are switching to a vegan diet for ethical and health reasons. Since vegan diet only contains natural foods (not animal derived foods such as eggs or meats), it is naturally low in calories. This in turn, helps one to lose weight quickly.

It is true that following a vegan diet can be challenging. This is especially true if you want to lose weight and have been invited for a party or a get together at a restaurant. However, with careful planning and a little self control, you can stick to a vegan diet and lose weight. In this article, we will highlight few foods that you can include in your vegan diet plan and enjoy weight loss at the same time.

Various Tips To Lose Weight

Vegetables And Fruits

If you are interested in losing weight, doctors suggest including loads of vegetables in the eating plan. If you are a vegan, opting for vegetables is a great idea since they are complete natural foods. Studies have revealed that every vegetable has some benefits and those who eat a vegetable rich diet have lower risks of heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes and other serious diseases.

Also, vegetables are loaded with fiber. So, they make you feel full for a longer period, thus encouraging you to eat less. Apart from vegetables, eating fruits is also a good idea. They are natural foods that are low in calories and thus, promote weight loss.

Whole Grains

These days, whole grains have become popular among people who are trying to lose weight. The reason is that like vegetables, whole grains are also full of fiber, which promotes weight loss.

For best results, choose a wide range of whole grain based foods that include oats, barley, cereals, rye and wheat. Also, if you are trying to lose weight, make sure that the readymade oats or cereals do not contain added sugars.

Nuts

Nuts can be safely included in the vegan diet since they are not animal derived products. Furthermore, nuts are excellent sources of various nutrients that include calcium, fiber, zinc, and omega 3 fatty acids. They are also rich in vitamin E, which means that regular consumption of nuts can prevent aging, improve skin texture, and enhance immunity function.

For best results, including a wide variety of nuts such as walnuts, almonds, Brazil nuts, chestnuts and pecans can be a good idea. However, remember that nuts are high in calories and so, moderate consumption is essential, if you are planning to lose weight.

Seeds

Seeds are also vegan foods that contain good nutrients such as healthy fats, protein, calcium and minerals. For getting maximum nutrition, eating a wide variety of seeds such as watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds is important.

However, if you find these seeds too bland, you can sprinkle some salt over them in order to enhance the taste. Also, for making most of the nutrition these seeds offer, chew them well before swallowing them. Remember that if you simply swallow them, you won’t get the nutritional benefits.

Include these vegan friendly foods in your diet for losing weight and enjoying healthy living.
