Sometimes coughing, sneezing, mild fever, hoarseness and general fatigue may also accompany the throat pain. If the causes cannot be treated easily, antibiotics may be required but in most of the cases relief can be obtained by some simple cures. This uncomfortable pain, scratchy feeling, pain while swallowing etc. may be cured in many ways.
Gargling with warm salt water gives relief when you have a sore throat. Add about ¼ tsp. of salt to one cup of warm water. Allow the warm salt water to remain in the upper throat by tilting the head backwards and expel air from the throat in such a way that the water bubbles. Spit out the water after the gargling and repeat the process.
The process of osmosis takes place when salt water comes in contact with the fluid filled organisms in the throat. This neutralizes the acids and dilates the capillaries which in turn stimulates the circulation. This remedy is very useful when there is dryness in addition to a sore throat. The burning sensation is reduced as the inflammation is healed.
Honey is considered to have excellent medicinal values since ancient times. It has antiseptic and antibacterial properties. Hence, for most micro organisms it is a poor environment not conducive to its growth.

You may take soups (don’t forget to add ginger), herbal teas made from cinnamon, holy basil leaves, cloves, sage etc. this will make you feel and get better quickly.
